Connie Kalitta the Bounty Hunter 1959-71 Photos

In this great raw image from 1971 are some of drag racings beloved faces. Some who are still in the heat of the action & some that have recently been lost to us. Connie Kalitta, who is known by all as one who has contributed greatly as a pioneer in all aspects of drag racing. He holds one of his many trophies in this photo along with his young son Scott Kalitta who would go on to become a 17 time Top Fuel carrer & 1 Funny Car carrer winner. Scott's career sadly ended just a few years ago on the racd track but somewhere in heaven races with angels. Pancho Rendon just to the right, also left us just a few short years ago. Poncho raced a front engined dragster in those days & was champion around 1986. Poncho rarely would allow his picture to be taken so this set of photo's is quite rare espcially this one where Joe, the photographer, got he & his friends, laughing. Poncho's dragster was on display at the Detroit NHRA museum. Larry Hensley (on the far right, next to Poncho) was part of the crew & the mechanic on Kalitta's Mustang & his name is on the car above where he's standing. The Miss Grand Nationals girls & the fellow to the left are still unidentified. What a great series of photos these are. Photo by Joe Stevens.
