Boblo Boat & Bob-lo Island Photos bring us all back to those sunny summer days when a one hour cruise along the Detroit River in a big steam ship was the beginning of a real life fantasy that could take you as far as a child's imagination could go. I remember the breeze blowing thru my hair, the smell of popcorn & cotton candy, running up & down the stairs to the dance floor or to the top of the ship where you were usually the only ones up there besides the Captain in the wheel room. We'd look up as our boat passed under the Ambassador Bridge that connects the US with Canada, we'd wave at the boats passing by until we pulled up to the little Island in Canada called Bob-lo that had been thrilling Amusement Park goers since the early 1900's. These great vintage images, from the 1960s & 70s, of both the SS Columbia & the SS Ste. Claire Bob-lo Boats are just some of the images you'll find here along with rare, professional photos of the Boblo Island Amusement Park & Rides. Photographer Joe Stevens, was commissioned to capture images for the Amusement Park Brochure by the owners of the Boats & Island, the Browning Brothers, who ran the Amusement Park at the time & for some 30 years.
