Detroit Dragway Photos - Legends of the 60s

In 1958 as hot rodders took NHRA's sub theme, "Ingenuity in Action" to heart as they began constructing their machines, multiple-engine entries and streamlined machines became the rage (though neither would win the Nationals that year) from coast to coast. In California, Motorsports pioneer Mickey Thompson, thrashed together a twin Chrysler-engined, four-wheel-drive streamliner, photographed here in 1964 at the Lightguard Armory Car Show (or in that year, may have even been part of the Detroit Autorama).
